Ingredients

6 portions
  • 1 kilo purple cabbage
  • 1 apple
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 leave bay (laurel)
  • 1/2 teaspoons juniper berries
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1/4 cups Red wine
  • 2 cloves
  • 3/4 cups Water
  • to taste salt and pepper

Preparation

Wash and slice the cabbage. Peel and slice the apple.
Melt the butter in a large saucepan, add the cabbage and apple, stir constantly. Add the flour and season with salt, pepper, bay leaf, juniper berries and cloves. Cook like this 5 minutes moving from time to time.
Add the wine, 3/4 cup of water and stir everything is well mixed, cook well without covering for 10 more minutes. The liquid must evaporate, so we can cook it a few more minutes if it is still juicy.
If you wish you can season it with salt and pepper. Serve immediately.

TIPS

It is a good accompaniment with some smoked chops or sausages.
