Ingredients

6 portions
  • 1 kilo red cabbage
  • 1 apple
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 leave bay
  • 1/2 teaspoons juniper berries
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1/4 cups Red wine
  • 2 cloves
  • 3/4 cups water
  • salt and pepper

Preparation

Wash and slice the cabbage thinly. Peel and slice the apple.
Melt the butter in a large saucepan, add the cabbage and apple, stirring constantly. Add the flour and season with salt, pepper, bay leaf, juniper berries and cloves. Cook like this for 5 minutes, stirring from time to time.
Add the wine, 3/4 cup of water and stir until everything is well mixed, cook like this without covering for 10 more minutes. The liquid must evaporate, so we can cook it for a few more minutes if it is still juicy.
If you wish, you can season it with salt and pepper. Serve immediately.

TIPS

It is a good accompaniment with smoked cutlets or sausages.
