Purple cabbage is delicious, you will surely like this recipe. This recipe is a good choice as a side dish of smoked chops or sausages. Its rich spicy flavor is the perfect combination for smoked ingredients. It is very simple to prepare and sure everyone at home will love it.

Ingredients

6 servings
  • 1 kilo of purple cabbage
  • 1 apple
  • 2 spoonfuls of Butter
  • 1 sheet of laurel
  • 1/2 teaspoonful of juniper berries
  • 1 tablespoon of flour
  • 1/4 of Cup of Red wine
  • 2 cloves
  • 3/4 of Cup of Water
  • to taste of salt and pepper

    Preparation

    Wash and slice the cabbage. Peel and slice the apple.
    Melt the butter in a large saucepan, add the cabbage and apple, stir constantly. Add the flour and season with salt, pepper, bay leaf, juniper berries and cloves. Cook like this 5 minutes moving from time to time.
    Add the wine, 3/4 cup of water and stir everything is well mixed, cook well without covering for 10 more minutes. The liquid must evaporate, so we can cook it a few more minutes if it is still juicy.
    If you wish you can season it with salt and pepper. Serve immediately.

    TIPS

    It is a good accompaniment with some smoked chops or sausages.
